plz help. i have court soon but havent had time to get a lawyer or anything
(Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, so please don’t depend on this as legal advice.)
Without knowing the particulars of your case (which country you are trying to immigrate from, when your hearing is supposed to take place, or even what kind of immigration hearing you have), it is difficult to give you an accurate answer.
In the case of most kinds of court hearings, if you are unprepared for court, there is a process you can go through to file an extension for your hearing. I assume you have paperwork that tells you when and where you are supposed to go to court, and if I were you, I would first try the contact information for that court. Contact the court and explain your situation, and ask them if it is possible to file an extension in your case. If you are unable to contact the court directly, or if you find them unhelpful, then you could try contacting your local immigration office with your request. If you have no local immigration office, you can try the contact form on the US Department of Immigration web site:
http://www.immigrationdirect.com/contact.jsp
Again, your request should be “Is it possible to file an extension in my case, and how would I go about doing so.”
