Advice on Canadian immigration from the UK?
Hi there,
My boyfriend and I just moved back to england from vancouver, canada, where we lived and worked on a 12month working holiday visa. we both loved it there and have been offered great jobs so are hoping to move back there as soon as we can. when we were there we saw a lawyer about emigrating and she advised us that we needed to apply for an Labour Market Opinion (LMO) and then apply for our visa (My bf would be added to my application as common law partner).
I wondered if anybody else has gone through this process and knows how to go about it? is it best to hire a lawyer? does it take longer to apply from the UK (we were told 3 months whilst in canada)? once we have the LMO which visa would we apply for and how long will this take? (we were advised it would only take a couple of weeks, but again, that was when we were in the country).
Any advice at all anyone could recommend would be a great help, thanks!! : )
you do not get the LMO – the employer gets that.
you need to apply for a job in Canada (while you are still in UK) Now you said you have been offered great jobs – so do you have jobs arranged already? If yes then the employer will then get the LMO – they have been know to take 6 months to be approved – so you need to be patient.
Once the employer has the LMO, he then arranges for the work permits to be issued and sent to you. So when you enter Canada on a work permit, you need to show and prove that you will go home at the end of the work permit (when it expires).
This is how the system works.
