where can i find affordable immigration lawyer? (Pls Read Carefully)?
I’m a struggling full time student and full time worker in san diego, california. However i received my green card a year ago. Dilemma is my wife is in F1 visa and we cannot afford her $5500 a semester tuition fees in current economy. I was told by my councilor that i can file petition for her, but do i need a lawyer? if yes? where? Churches? will they help finding lawyer? i tried to call 3-4 law firm and they are after me like a hungry tiger after it’s prey. 4-5 calls a day. and first they said its free consultation and later when i went to office they gave me a slip of paper where it said, they gonna charge 150/hr for consulting. INSANE!! anyways …if any of you guys understand my problem and situation i’m going through (min. wage job, school, rent , car payment and my wife’s fee) and please some body advice me.. serious advice would be really appreciated. God bless you all!!!
$150 an hour is cheap actually.
And even if she gets into a different immigration category, because she did not graduate from a California high school, she still will NOT get the in state tuition rate.
Some of the ones in National City or San Ysidro where most of their clients are Mexicans may be somewhat cheaper.
You can do it without a lawyer or an on-line self help service but it will take longer.
Anso, to get her a marriage visa will still cost over $1,000 in government fees.
