how much did you pay for your lawyer legal fee for filing h1b?
my lawyer had submitted my h1 b application this monday, and he only realized that my company fee is $1500 instead of $750. also there is a $500 fraud fee.
Therefore he is charging me additional $1250.
the thing is prior to all these paper works, I raised the questions about the company fee several times. And all he said was your $3000 will covers all. I even point out there are more than 25 employees in my company.
Should i just pay him $1250
or bargain for his legal fee.
i am very very very broke now.
please help me
thanks
The rule is that $2000 (1500 + 500) must be paid by the company. You are not suppose to pay it and the lawyer should not charge you for it. Also, your company should not ask you to pay for it. Your lawyer should be in contact with your HR department regarding that fees. All you need to pay is the legal fees and the application fees. You should have a contract with the lawyer that states the breakdown of the fees and the legal fees before you hire the lawyer. Once you agreed with the lawyer, you or lawyer cannot break the contract. I only paid for the legal fees $1500 and $190 for the application fees. The rest should be paid by the company- stated in the application form
