Can I keep my disability benefits if self remove before deportation?
while in the army i had schizophrenia and pled guilty to possession of an explosive material(federal aggravated felony) and sentenced to 5 years probation, i haven’t been deported or contacted by ICE and i was told by immigration lawyer i probably wasn’t but probably can’t renew green card. I receive va health and financial benefits. if i leave the country after probation is done do i still keep my benefits or should i try to stay if i have a chance at fighting deportation by some relief or means?
People on other govt benefits can leave the country and still receive their benefits.
I doubt they can take the benefits away without you being officially deported.
Your lawyer should know. Just listen to him.
