how can i get my bond money back without my lawyer who signed for it!!?
2 years ago, I had a problem with immigration and I was held in jail until I pay for a 5000$ bond to get released. 2 days later, a friend of mine asked a lawyer to pay my bond for me and get released. 3 months later I got my status back as a legal immigrant in this country. I asked my lawyer to claim the bond money since I got my status back and that was no reason to go to court. She said yes after receiving all the documents required to file a claim for the bond. A week after, she moved to NJ without any notice. I tried to contact her and email her but without any success. I went online and try to get some information about her and ended up by getting her phone number. I called her to get some explanation but she refused to talk to me even to send me my file back. I went last week to a civil court trying to sue her and get my money back. What should I do? Who should I talk to? I m lost … I have been in this country for more then 3 years now not knowing what is my situation.
In this country when you bail bond out of jail you don’t get the money back. Chances are your bail was $50,000 and your lawyer went to a bail bondsman and gave the standard 10%. The bail bondsman put up the rest. In the end the bail bondsman fee is that 10%.
