a uk based immigration lawyer promises to book a seat with the ukba… Can he legally do this?

a uk immigration law firm is promising to book a seat with the ukba before the 19th of july if i pay them now -this way the cap/additional points that come into effect after this date will not affect me even though I will be filing after this date. Is the firm being honest?

Hi all,

First time posting – so bear with me. I am a lawyer (not with capital visas) but with Westkin Associates but will try and avoid posting spam as a few other law firms seem to have done! A few points:

1. A law firm can offer this service if they have the correct registration with UKBA. The service is called the Legal Representatives Same Day Service. It should show up on a web search, there is a UKBA. They usually call these “slots”.
2. Only firms registered with the law society or OISC can use this service. Capital visas have the OISC logo on their site so seem to be registered with them although I haven’t checked this online.
3.A firm shouldn’t charge you more for a slot because they can. They should only charge for work done or increased costs. Using the same day service can cost more , eg when we provide clients the same day service we have to pay a legal clerk to go there all day and so explain this to clients up front. How much more were they charging and what for? They cannot “price gouge” but can charge for work done or costs incurred.

US federal action against Arizona over immigration law

My son lives with his father doesn’t speak english (well)? What happens if his dad is deported?

I am 1/2 native american. My son is 19 months lives with his father who is mexican. He just started talking in January.Dad does not want papers because he doesn’t want to “use” me. So i didn’t make him file. I married him because I wanted to be with him, but the new immigration laws got us both scared and we seperated. We send money to Mexico to send my stepchildren to school and take care of his mother (my parents and grandparents(on the reservation) are sponsoring his children [4] to come here this year).Ultimately if they deport i don’t want my son to go and be stuck in mex. Which would be really weird because I would have his 4 kids and he would have my son. I think this is more info. I speak english and understand spanish. I have 2 fulltime jobs, I can afford a lawyer but I would like to know more about the what ifs and if it happens often.

He should probably get papers… it’s not about “using” you its about keeping yer family together and giving your son a better life… if he really loves you and his son you should tell him to take a humility pill and do what needs to be done for the family regardless of the hit his pride takes…
