National interest Waiver green card or political asylum?
Hello. In this moment I’m ending my PhD in sciences in plant biotecnology. I have a previous master degree in plant breeding. I never have work in USA, I just went last year to a congress for a week. I wish to immigrate to USA and become a permanet resident and I believe I have two alternatives. The NIW or ask for political asylum (PA). I do not have money for the attorney in this moment, and once in USA I need to get a job and i’ll need an EAD. NIW is faster but expensive, PA is inexpensive but it takes a (long) time. at the other hand I do not if I can to ask for both (NIW & PA). I do not know which way is better. Please tell me your experience and help me to take a decision. Thank you very much
The NIW sounds very interesting and if you qualify that would be your best route. The applications for credible fear/political asylum are not always granted. You will also need to prove political prosecution.
